ビデオの内容-1：
What does it take for a seed to become a mature plant? Examine the significant processes behind the transformation ? seed germination, the role meristems play in plant growth, and the importance of pollination in the reproductive process.
ビデオの内容-2：
Plants must cope with the challenges posed by their environments, including their living and nonliving neighbors. After viewing the flow of energy within an ecosystem, consider the complex and extraordinary ways plants adapt to the abiotic and biotic factors in their environments.
授業の方法：
この授業の目的は、英語を日本語に訳すことではありません。授業では、上に挙げた２つのDiscovery Channelが製作するビデオ等を視聴して英語を聞き取り、ナレーションを英語のscriptに文章化することで英語を「講読」します。また学生各自が「科学」や「植物学」に関する英語のessayを作成し、授業でその文章を校正して、英語のミニ論文を完成させるなどのwritingのトレーニングも併せて行うことにより、英語を実際に「使う」ことによって英語を「講読」する授業です。
