Breeding and Reproduction

This laboratory aims, firstly, to develop basic knowledge on animal genetics and reproduction, then to apply theory and technology to improving animal reproduction and genetics. Specifically, we are investigating various animal biotechnologies, gene analyses and localization of genes on chromosomes.

Our current research topics include:
1) Development of embryos produced by , for example, in vitro fertilization (IVF) in mammals.
2) Evaluation of early developmental-stage embryos produced by various assisted reproductive technologies in mice, swine, cattle and humans.
3) Analyses of implantation mechanism in mammals by molecular biology techniques.
4)Localization of genes on chromosomes.
5) Genetic variation of Japanese Sika Deer using genetic markers as mutations in mitochondrial DNA D-Loop regions.
